Instructions, in the order you need them. Every figure on this page is the figure we work to. The same figures sit on each product page, in the cart, and in the Refund and Returns Policy. Spot one that disagrees and we will correct the page, not the promise.

Know where your books ship from

Bookza is a bookseller. We are not a publisher and we do not keep a warehouse. Titles are bought new through authorized book wholesalers and distributors in the United States, the same trade channels any bookstore buys through. Those distributors hold the stock. Your order goes to whichever one has the title; they pick it, pack it, and hand it to USPS from their facility inside the country.

Indianola is where the company is registered and where returns land. It is a desk. No stock is kept there. No customer parcel is mailed from there. Since nothing crosses a border, no customs step, import duty or brokerage fee can attach to your order.

Count on 2 to 3 business days of packing

Allow 2 to 3 business days between your order and the parcel leaving. The order cut-off is 4:00 PM Central Time, Monday through Friday: an order in before that hour counts the same day as its first business day, and an order after it starts counting from the next business day. Weekends and US federal holidays do not count at all, so a Friday-evening order starts Monday. Orders release to the distributor across the working day, and the 2 to 3 day figure already carries that.

Add 3 to 7 business days for USPS

USPS carries every parcel. Nothing goes by any other carrier. Allow 3 to 7 business days once the label is scanned. Distance decides most of it. Iowa and the surrounding states land at the short end; the coasts land at the long one.

Plan on 5 to 10 business days from order to doorstep

2 to 3 packing plus 3 to 7 in transit equals 5 to 10 business days. That total prints under every title on this site. Use it when a date matters. There is no rush option, no overnight, no upgrade at checkout. Buying for an occasion? Count the business days first and ask us if the math is tight.

Pay $4.99 flat, or nothing at all over $39

Two possibilities, no others. Under $39.00 the shipping line reads $4.99. At $39.00 or above it reads free. Subtotal means book prices after a discount code and before tax. Titles here run $6.99 to $48.99, so a third book carries most baskets over the line, and two of the dearer ones can manage it between them. Exactly one title on the site reaches $39 on its own. A threshold nobody reaches is decoration, not an offer.

Look for one shipping line and no extras

The fee attaches to the order, not to each book. Four titles in one mailer cost the same $4.99 as one. Nothing is added for handling, packaging, fuel or insurance. What the checkout page shows before you press the button is what the card is charged.

Ship to the lower 48 and the District of Columbia

The 48 contiguous states plus DC, street addresses only. That is the delivery area, and checkout will not accept an address outside it.

Skip the addresses we cannot reach

Off the map for now: PO Boxes; military APO, FPO and DPO addresses; Hawaii and Alaska; Puerto Rico and the other territories; any destination beyond the border. If checkout will not take your address, this list is why.

Expect sales tax only where your state charges it

Tax depends on the destination state. States requiring collection produce a separate tax line, visible in the summary while you can still back out. Where none applies, the line simply is not there. Tax never hides inside a book price or inside the shipping fee.

Follow the parcel from the email we send

A tracking number goes out by email once USPS scans the parcel, usually inside 24 hours of dispatch. The Order Tracking page takes the same order number alongside the email used for billing. Early scans can be thin for a day while the parcel moves between facilities. Once it reaches a local route, scans turn daily.

Correct an address within 12 hours

Inside 12 hours, send us the order number plus the address as it should read; the change happens before anything is packed. Once the distributor has dispatched, the destination is fixed. A parcel handed over at whatever address checkout recorded is a delivered parcel, so read the street, the apartment and the ZIP once more first.

Tell us when a parcel runs late

Past the tenth business day with nothing delivered? Send the order number. We pull the tracking history from USPS and reply with what it shows and what happens next. Tracking frozen for 5 business days deserves the same email; we will open a carrier inquiry on your behalf. Messages of this kind are acknowledged inside one business day, and the matter is closed out, by replacement or by refund, inside 5 to 7 business days once we hold everything needed.

Report damage within 7 days, with photos

Books travel in a mailer with board or wrap, and a corner still gets crushed now and then. Photograph the book and the mailer, then send both with your order number inside 7 days of delivery. A replacement copy or a full refund follows, whichever you choose. No cost falls on you.

Give a delivered scan 48 hours before you worry

USPS occasionally records a delivery a day early. Ask the household, the neighbors and the building office first, and give it 48 hours. Still nothing? Email us and a trace opens with USPS. If the carrier confirms the loss, the copy is replaced or refunded in full.

Allow for a slow title or a storm

Two things stretch the window. Stock is the first: distributors sell out, occasionally between your order and dispatch. Inside 2 business days an email reaches you with three options: wait for the restock, take another title costing the same, or take a refund that includes whatever postage was charged. Weather, postal backlogs and holiday volume are the second, and nobody controls those. The Federal Trade Commission's Mail, Internet, or Telephone Order Merchandise Rule requires us to ship inside the time posted here, and to tell you, give a revised date and offer a cancellation with full refund if we cannot. We run every order that way as a matter of course.

Send a book back, or write to a person

Thirty days from delivery to start a return, no restocking fee, and the parcel comes to Indianola after we issue an authorization by email. Postage responsibility depends on the reason, and the Refund and Returns Policy lists each case. Anything unclear on this page: send an email. A person opens it.
