A bookshop needs somewhere to post a parcel and an address to tell you it is coming. Nearly everything below follows from those two facts. Where a section describes something absent from this site, it says so outright instead of leaving space to imagine otherwise.

Know what this policy covers

Bookzastore.com and the orders placed through it, for buyers, correspondents and browsers alike. ANNA EVELYN HALE FUNY LLC of Indianola, Iowa is the business accountable for everything described here.

Hand over only what an order needs

Name, delivery address, email, a phone number if you offer one, plus the titles bought and the amount paid. Card numbers are not on that list: they pass directly to Stripe or PayPal and never arrive here. Brand and last four digits are the extent of what we can see.

Tell us more when you write or subscribe

Emails, contact-form messages and return conversations are kept alongside our replies, so whoever picks the thread up next knows what has already been said. Tick the small news-and-offers box at checkout and that address is kept for occasional notes about new titles; leave it untouched, as it sits by default, and no such mail ever starts. Anything else volunteered — that a book is a gift, that a date matters — stays only as long as the order needs it.

See what the site records on its own

Ordinary server logs: IP address, browser and device type, pages requested, timestamps. They exist to keep the shop running and to catch abuse, and they feed no marketing profile. No analytics service, advertising pixel or session recorder operates on this site — open your browser's network tab and check.

Learn what our payment and delivery partners send back

Stripe and PayPal report whether payment succeeded, the last four digits, and the billing name and address they verified. USPS returns scan events for the parcel. That is the whole of what flows back to us from outside. Nobody sells us information about you, and we purchase none.

Understand why we use any of it

Five purposes. Taking and dispatching orders. Answering messages. Running returns, refunds and carrier claims. Keeping the shop secure against fraud. Meeting legal and tax obligations. Advertising audiences and customer profiling appear nowhere on that list.

Cookies

Only the cookies the shop cannot function without: the cart between pages, a signed-in session where an account exists, a remembered preference such as a dismissed banner. Advertising and analytics cookies are absent, which is precisely why no consent banner greets you — there would be nothing to ask permission for. The day a tracking cookie arrives, a banner and a real choice arrive with it, and this paragraph gets rewritten first. Browser settings can clear or block cookies at any point, though blocking the essential ones stops the cart working.

Meet the companies that touch your data

Four groups, all acting on instruction. Stripe and PayPal handle payment. The book distributor filling your order receives your name and delivery address. USPS carries the parcel. Hosting and email providers keep the site online and deliver order mail. None may use your information for their own marketing. Disclosure also happens where law compels it — a subpoena, a court order, a tax authority — and we would read such a demand narrowly.

Choose whether our email reaches you

Order mail is part of the purchase and always sends: confirmation, dispatch note with tracking, replies to your questions. The newsletter is a separate thing entirely. It reaches only shoppers who ticked the optional box at checkout — a box that stays unticked until you act — and every issue carries a one-click unsubscribe. Buying a book, by itself, enrols nobody. Ask by email instead and we will remove you by hand.

Know how long an order stays on file

Order records last as long as US tax and business law requires, which in practice runs to several years. Support threads are held two years so a past problem can be looked up. Newsletter addresses stay until an unsubscribe. Server logs expire within weeks.

See how we protect it

HTTPS across the whole site. Payment details never entering our systems at all. Access to order records restricted to the people running the shop, on protected accounts. No small business can honestly promise a system will never be breached, and this one will not pretend to. What can be promised: if a breach touches your information, you and the authorities hear from us inside the window the law sets.

Your rights

Wherever you live: ask what we hold, request a copy, have it corrected, have it deleted, and stop the newsletter. Write from the address on your order to contact@bookzastore.com. Acknowledgement arrives inside one business day, the answer inside 45 calendar days, with a single 45-day extension available on genuinely complex requests. No charge, and no change in how you are treated for asking.

California residents

The CCPA, as amended by the CPRA, adds the right to opt out of any sale or sharing of personal information and the right to limit use of sensitive personal information. Sensitive personal information, as the statute defines it, is not collected here. Opt-outs complete inside 15 business days; know, correct and delete requests follow the 45-day timing above. Children

Children's books are sold here to the adults buying them. This site is not directed at children, and personal information is not knowingly collected from anyone under 13, consistent with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act. If a child that age has sent us something, tell us and it is deleted. A separate statute covers anyone below the age of 16: their details are neither sold nor shared — see the page linked above.

Follow a link off our site at your own risk

A handful of links lead elsewhere: a publisher's site, a map of our address, USPS tracking. Once you cross over, that site's privacy policy governs and this one stops. What they collect is outside our control.

Sell nothing, share nothing

Stated plainly in one place: personal information has never been sold from this shop, is not shared for cross-context behavioral advertising, and no third-party tracker runs here. If any of that changes, this policy and the Do Not Sell or Share page get rewritten and a working opt-out exists before the change takes effect — not afterwards.

Watch for changes to this policy

The current version always sits here with its date at the top. Material changes get described rather than swapped in quietly, and no change applies backwards to information already collected under an earlier version.
