New books by USPS from US distributors · $4.99 flat, free on orders of $39 or more

FAQ

Short answers, with a link to the policy that carries the full version. Every figure below is the same figure printed on the product pages and at checkout.

Start with who you are buying from

Who runs Bookza?

ANNA EVELYN HALE FUNY LLC, a company registered in Indianola, Iowa, with Federal EIN 99-4709040. It sells you the book, it takes the money, and its name is what shows up on your statement. The About page tells the longer story.

Is there a shop I can walk into?

No. Selling happens online only. Indianola is an office address that also receives approved returns; there are no shelves behind it, and nothing is shipped out of it.

Where do the books themselves come from?

From book wholesalers and distributors licensed to sell them, all located inside this country, along the same supply route that stocks a bookstore downtown. Those firms warehouse the titles and send your parcel out. Since nothing crosses a border, customs charges cannot arise.

What does delivery add?

$4.99 below a $39.00 subtotal, and zero at or above it. One charge covers the whole basket, so a stack of four titles is billed the same as a single paperback.

Will there be tax?

Only where your state requires it to be collected, and it appears on its own line in the summary before you confirm. States that do not require it produce no line.

Anything else added at the end?

Nothing at all — no handling, no packaging, no fuel surcharge, no processing cut. Whatever the summary reads at the moment you confirm is the sum your card is billed. The Payment Policy covers the detail.

Pay the way that suits you

Which methods work here?

Stripe handles the cards: Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover. Apple Pay and Google Pay work on devices that offer them. PayPal is there as the other route.

Can Bookza see my card number?

No. Card details go straight to Stripe or PayPal, both PCI DSS compliant. What lands in our order file is the type of card and its closing four digits — that is the whole of it.

Why is there a pending amount after a failed payment?

That is an authorization hold placed by your bank, not a charge, and no money has reached us. Banks release them on their own schedule, usually within 3 to 7 business days.

Plan around the delivery window

How long does an order take?

Between 5 and 10 business days: 2 to 3 for a distributor to pick and pack, then 3 to 7 with USPS. Business days exclude weekends and US federal holidays, and the 4:00 PM Central cut-off decides which day counts as the first.

Which carrier delivers?

USPS handles every parcel. There is no express option, no overnight service and no upgrade at checkout.

Where does Bookza deliver?

Anywhere in the lower 48 or the District of Columbia, so long as it is a street address. Checkout turns away post-office boxes, the APO/FPO/DPO military network, Alaska and Hawaii, Puerto Rico and the remaining territories, and every destination abroad.

When does tracking arrive?

By email within about 24 hours of the first USPS scan. The Order Tracking page takes the order number and the billing email, and the Shipping Policy sets out the whole timetable.

Change or chase an order

Can I fix the address or cancel?

Yes — twelve hours, measured from when you ordered, and only while the parcel remains unsent. Send us the order number together with either the corrected street or the word "cancel". Past dispatch, where it is headed can no longer be altered.

My parcel is late. What now?

Once the tenth business day passes with nothing delivered, send us the order number. We read the USPS history and reply with what it shows. Tracking that has not moved for 5 business days deserves the same email, and we open the carrier inquiry ourselves.

Tracking says delivered but nothing arrived.

Check with everyone at home, with next door, and with whoever handles post for the building, then leave it two days, because a carrier will occasionally record a delivery ahead of time. Nothing by then? Write in, and we start a search with USPS. Where USPS confirms the parcel is gone, you choose a fresh copy or the refund.

Send a book back

How long do I have?

The window runs 30 days from arrival for opening a return, plus a further two weeks to get it in the mail. Nothing is deducted as a restocking fee, in any circumstances.

What is the first step?

Write in and wait for an authorization; do not post the book first. That reply lands inside one business day and confirms where to send it. Books that travel without an authorization, or that go back to whichever distributor appears on the outer label, arrive somewhere nobody can connect them to an order.

Who pays the return postage?

We do, by prepaid label, whenever the fault sits with us: transit damage, a title we got wrong, or a book unlike what its page promised. For plain second thoughts, the postage back is yours, and the delivery charge on the original order stays spent. Full cases sit in the Refund and Returns Policy.

How quickly does the money come back?

Within 3 to 5 business days of the copy arriving and passing its check, to whichever method paid. Your bank or PayPal then takes a further 3 to 10 business days to post it.

Buy for a child with your eyes open

Are the children's titles safe?

Our sources are long-standing publishers and trade suppliers, and they certify to us that what they sell satisfies the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act. No lab work happens at this end, and there is no Children's Product Certificate in our hands, which is why you will never see the word "certified" printed against an item on this site. The Product Safety page carries the whole of it.

How should I read the age ranges?

Exactly as the publisher graded them — we do not stretch a range to widen a sale. Reading difficulty is only half of what they signal; the other half is safety, which counts on anything holding small parts, so read a range as a minimum rather than a hint. The Disclaimer says more.

Is anything tracked or sold?

No advertising pixel, analytics tag or third-party tracker runs on this site, which is why no cookie banner greets you. Personal information is neither sold nor shared for cross-context behavioral advertising. See the Privacy Policy and the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page.

Do I need an account to order?

No — checkout runs perfectly well without one. As for the newsletter, it goes out solely to shoppers who ticked the optional news box at checkout; ordering a book on its own subscribes nobody.

Reach a person if this list misses your question

Will the catalog grow?

Yes. Wider categories of book come first, with digital editions or further product types possible after that. Whatever arrives that is not a physical book will have rules published for it in advance of the first sale.

How do I get hold of you?

Email is fastest and reaches a person, normally inside one business day. The phone line is answered when someone is free, and a message left there gets a call back on the same schedule.
