Product Safety

Books for grown readers carry no safety rules worth a page. The kids' shelves do. This page covers the children's items Bookza sells, the federal rules standing behind them, and the honest limits of what a small reseller can vouch for.
Know which shelves this page is about
Two of the four shelves put items into children's hands. Kids & Early Learning holds board books for the very young, touch-and-feel titles, and workbooks graded ages 2 to 3 and 3 to 5. Coloring & Activity holds sticker books and one coloring kit bundling eight jumbo markers with glow-in-the-dark stickers, graded ages 6 to 8. Everything else in the catalog is an ordinary printed book bought by adults for adults, and nothing on this page applies to it.
Trust the supply route, not a sticker we printed
Children's items reach Bookza the way every title does: new, through authorized US wholesalers and distributors, from established publishers and suppliers. Those firms state that what they make meets the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act requirements for children's products, the lead and phthalate limits among them. Bookza runs no laboratory and holds no Children's Product Certificate, so no listing here will carry the word "certified" or "tested" on our say-so. A standard the publisher stands behind, we repeat; a promise we cannot back, we do not make.
Match the item to the child in front of you
Every children's listing shows the publisher's grading, copied as printed: ages 2 to 3, ages 3 to 5, ages 6 to 8. We never nudge a range wider to move a copy. Treat it as a floor. Board books exist for the age that chews whatever it holds; sticker sheets and markers do not, so keep the Coloring & Activity shelf away from children under three and hand them a board book instead.
Mind the small pieces
Sticker sheets, marker caps and die-cut card shapes sit exactly at the size a toddler swallows. Stay beside a child through craft time, sweep stray pieces up afterwards, and bin the shrink wrap the moment it comes off. An item arriving cracked, split or shedding parts goes out of reach first and into an email to us second.
Treat the marker kit as the factory packed it
US law expects art materials made for children to carry the maker's conformance statement under ASTM D-4236 on the package. The coloring kit sells here factory-sealed, exactly as its manufacturer packed and labeled it, with nothing repacked, decanted or relabeled by us. A kit reaching you without its seal or its labeling is a kit to stop using: email us, the copy comes back at our cost, and the batch gets raised with the supplier.
Speak up when something seems off
A damaged or worrying children's item follows the usual route: photographs of the item and its mailer to contact@bookzastore.com, inside 7 days for transit damage, any time at all for a safety worry. The item is replaced or refunded at no cost, and the concern travels upstream to the publisher or supplier the same week. Safety reports can also go straight to the Consumer Product Safety Commission at SaferProducts.gov, an independent channel built for exactly this; using it never changes how your return is handled.
Hear what happens on a recall
Should a recall from a publisher, a supplier or the CPSC touch an item Bookza has sold, the listing comes down the day we learn of it, every buyer of that item gets an email carrying the remedy the notice sets out, and the shop follows what the recall requires, whether repair, replacement or refund. A catalog of twenty-seven titles keeps that check honest, short work.
