Meet the shop: a short shelf, run from Indianola
Bookza is a small online bookshop operated by ANNA EVELYN HALE FUNY LLC out of Indianola, Iowa, a town of roughly fifteen thousand about twenty minutes south of Des Moines. Four shelves make up the catalog: fiction and novels; children's books and early-learning workbooks; coloring and activity titles; a short self-improvement shelf. Nothing else. Keeping the list small is deliberate, because a small list is one nobody here has to bluff about.
Know who actually holds the books
No warehouse sits behind this shop, and that belongs at the top of the page rather than buried three clicks down. Distributors hold the stock, all of them inside the United States. An order routes to whichever distributor carries that title; their staff pull the copy, pack it and hand it to USPS. Indianola is the registered office and the address returns come to. A desk, in other words. Nothing is stored there and nothing is posted from there.

See where the books come from
Every title arrives new, through authorized wholesalers and distributors in the United States, along the same trade routes any bookstore uses. No remainders sold as new. No grey-market imports of uncertain origin. No print-on-demand facsimile of somebody else's edition. Publisher, format, page count, publication date and ISBN appear on each listing, so the exact copy is identifiable before you spend anything.
Count the trade-offs before you buy
This arrangement costs you something, and you should weigh it now rather than later. Five to ten business days is slower than the giant marketplaces. A title cannot be set aside for you, and a copy cannot be inspected for a printing flaw before dispatch, because the copy is not in our hands. Twenty-seven titles is a narrow catalog, so the book you came for may simply not be here. What comes back the other way: figures that hold up, a returns process operated by the person who wrote it, and mail answered by someone who can see your order.
Watch how an order moves
Order goes in. Two to three business days later a distributor has picked and packed it. USPS carries it three to seven business days more, with a tracking number arriving by email along the route. Shipping runs $4.99, or nothing once the subtotal hits $39.00. A copy that disappoints can start its return any time inside 30 days of arrival, with no restocking fee, coming back to Indianola. Every one of those figures is written into a policy here, not just into this paragraph.
Hold us to these four things
Pricing without theater: no invented "was" figures, no countdown clocks, no permanent sale. Delivery windows describing what genuinely happens, slow parts included. A returns process that behaves as written, with an authorization issued the same or next business day. Reviews left exactly as customers write them, following the Federal Trade Commission's rules.
Do not expect a bookstore with a front door
There is nowhere to walk in, no café, no reading nights, no staff picks handwritten on cards. We are not publishers, not antiquarian dealers, and nobody here holds an English degree worth waving around. No awards, no press coverage, no heirloom-library origin story, because none of those exist. Saying so beats inventing a history: a shop that starts embroidering its past has already told you how much its figures are worth.
Expect the shelf to grow
The entire catalog is printed books right now. Hence a page that discusses nothing else. Growth will bring more kinds of books first: other fiction categories, non-fiction, cookbooks, young-adult titles, whatever can be bought properly and described honestly. Ebooks may join later, and possibly other products that suit the same way of selling.
Two commitments attach to that. Additions never happen quietly — when the range shifts, this page and the policies shift with it, and whatever appears on the site falls under the same terms from its first day. And anything that is not a printed book gets rules written before it goes on sale. A download has no parcel, no tracking scan and no postal return, so stretching a shipping policy written for mailers to cover one would be dishonest. Terms covering how an ebook is delivered and when it can be refunded will exist first.

I opened Bookza wanting the experience of ordering a book to resemble buying from someone who sticks around afterwards. Pretending the operation is larger than it is would defeat that: one small Iowa company, working with real distributors, run by someone who opens every email. Something goes wrong, write to me, and it gets fixed rather than explained away.
